Time Flies...

Wow, so a lot has changed since July. I have finished all but one of my applications, and my choices have changed since my last post. After discovering I was short a class to apply to Arizona I was not able to apply. I currently have applications submitted to the University of Hawaii at Manoa, University of North Carolina, and Louisville. I just need to order another copy of transcripts and I will be ready to send in my application to Villanova. I have already made it through the first round of cuts at Villanova, so I am hopeful that this is a good sign for the future.

So now the waiting begins...the part that I hate the most! More to come as those letters start coming in!!

Application Time!

Today is July 1st, which means that 3 of my applications are ope for business! The apps for Touro, North Carolina, and Western University are all available through the CAS system for applications.

I'm very excited to begin this process (because the sooner I start it, the sooner it's over!)

Choices

I thought I'd just post my top 5 school choices at the moment. These are in no particular order, and are subject to change at any time (although I should hurry up and decide here pretty soon!).
1)Western University - Pomona, CA
2)Touro University - NV
3)University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill
4)University of Arizona
5)Villanova - Pennsylvania

I also just discovered a second-degree program in Alabama at the University of South Alabama. I've never heard of the school before, so I'm going to have to do a little more research if this one is gonna make it onto the list!

About Me

So, here is a little info about who I am, where I come from, and (hopefully) where I'm headed.

WHO: i'm Kat. I'll be 24 this weekend, and I recently graduated from BYU with a Bachelor's in Exercise Science.

WHERE: I grew up in Mission Viejo, CA, but spent my college career out of state. I"m currently back at my parents house until I get accepted to a nursing program. I'm hoping to be in by January so I'm not out of school for too long. It is SO hard to get back into the swing of things when you've been out for too long.

WHERE I"M HEADED: I don't know yet! I am still researching schools and finding out where I can apply. Gotta love each individual school's individual prereqs. No 2 are the same. I don't really have a preference for what state I end up in, so that keeps my options wide open. I'll just be happy to be in a program doing what I love. If anyone knows of a good accelerated nursing program, please, let me know ;)

I hate the application process. It is the most obnoxious, frustrating part of getting into school. I hated it the first time around and that was ridiculously low-maintenance compared to this. I don't start submitting applications until July, so I have a little time left to find more schools and really pick my top choices.

Let the fun begin!

Just Getting Started

So this is just a welcome post to give an overview of what will be documented here. I intend to share all of my feelings, frustrations, and triumphs of becoming a nurse. I am beginning the application phase, my least favorite part of any process, and can't wait to get this ball rolling! More to come soon.
